Riverdale reminds us that Dark Betty has remained under the surface this entire time
Dark Betty is back! And honestly, we know that she never really left. But in the latest episode of Riverdale, “The Night Gallery,” she proves just how dark she can get.
In this episode of Riverdale, we actually got a chance to see short vignettes featuring our main cast. And while each character’s story was interesting and often dark, it was Betty Cooper herself who stood out from the crowd.
As an FBI agent, Betty has basically gone off the rails and is not even technically an FBI agent anymore, or if she is, she is not an active one. But that isn’t stopping her from throwing her status around when she needs it to get information.
At this point, the Dark Betty aura that surrounds Betty is one that it doesn’t seem like she will ever outrun. And maybe she doesn’t want to. But either way, in “The Night Gallery” we see her go all in and actually threaten to dismember a man and cauterize his wounds so that he can suffer the entire time.
Riverdale goes all-in on the Dark Betty idea in “The Night Gallery”
After threatening this man, we do see what seems like a bit of remorse from Betty, or if not remorse at least the idea that this is not exactly her idea so much as a threat that was used against her that she is recycling. However, it doesn’t end there, because she seems willing to make good on this promise and even gets her hands on a chainsaw.
Too bad the man she was torturing for information ended up choking on his own tongue in order to not tell Betty anything.
The entire vignette with Betty and even Alice Cooper was horrifying in that it seemed like both of these women have walked away from justice and the idea of rights and wrongs because of their need for vengeance. Dark Betty was interesting in high school, but now she is terrifying.
Riverdale knows how to deliver fascinating storylines, but in “The Night Gallery” their short storylines were proof that each of our characters has some serious issues.
What did you think of “The Night Gallery?” Do you think Dark Betty is here to stay? Who do you think has the most issues on Riverdale? We want to know.
