Now that Disney is cutting ties with Scarlett Johansson, Tower of Terror fans are out of luck. Why you may ask? Because now the film is canceled too.

According to WDW News Today, following the news that the actress was suing Disney over Black Widow profits, “Disney is cutting all ties with the actress and canceling projects involving her.” (Is anyone surprised by this at all? I know I’m not.)

The sad thing about this news is that this means we are losing a new attempt at getting a revamped Tower of Terror movie. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the original movie for what it was. Tower of Terror in 1997 was a chance to give both Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst a chance to shine if you will. It was a made-for-TV movie and it was all about the Wonderful World of Disney programming.

What do you expect from a late 90s TV movie from Disney? It wasn’t the thrills and chills we want from a modern Tower of Terror movie.

It’s a sad day for fans of the Tower of Terror Disney ride and potential film fans

Maybe it is just me, but I was looking forward to a fresh take on this iconic ride. And even if they took some of the elements of the original film and made it new, that would be amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, I see both sides of the story when it comes to the Disney versus Scarlett Johansson situation, but I really wanted a Tower of Terror movie in 2022 (or 2023 whatever). And knowing that Disney cutting ties with the actress means the movie has been canceled is pretty much a blow to those of us who were excited by the nostalgia and the idea that maybe we could finally get a movie in line with the first Pirates of the Caribbean film.

I know I am probably supposed to be more up in arms over the whole Disney letting go of Johansson, but really I was just here for the movie itself.

Are you disappointed by the news that a Tower of Terror movie is no longer happening? Do you think Disney should find a way to make this film happen anyway? Let us know.
