Wonder Woman will be turning 80 this year and DC Comics has a lot planned for our favorite Amazonian. One of those projects is Wonder Women of the World which will see real-life superheroines taking on the mantle of Wonder Woman.

Spearheaded by Laurie Halse Anderson, the anthology series will bring together writers and artists to highlight some of the best women who are recognizable everyday heroes. Some of the international women to take on the mantle of Wonder Woman will include Beyonce, Serena Williams, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, and Malala Yousafzai.

Not all of them are celebrities like Beyonce, however. The women that will be highlighted in the series work in the fields of science, sports, activism, and diplomacy. In fact, there will be 23 women to take on the mantle in Wonder Women of the World. It will be exciting to see who else is included!

Greta Thunberg and more will don the mantle of Wonder Woman in new anthology series

Honestly, the idea of this series is, well, wonderful. In a world where there is pain and sadness everywhere, it can be hard to remember that there are other women out there trying to make a positive difference in our world.

It really combines my two favorite things – Wonder Woman and raising other women up. There are a lot incoming from DC to celebrate Wonder Woman and her influence on pop culture – but this one is really unique in its message.

We currently don’t know any of the other writers and artists on this project, we will be watching with excitement to see if the pages will be filled with words and art by women in the comic industry. Really, really hoping so.
