Season 3 of Roswell, New Mexico is almost here (July 26!) and that means we are getting ready for more of Liz, Max, Isobel, and Michael! But before the season begins on The CW, we are looking back. And that means figuring out which episodes from the last two seasons we need to rewatch to get ready for the show’s return.

While we could suggest doing a full rewatch from the very beginning, there are certain episodes that might just be the best choice if you don’t have the time to make that happen. And luckily, we have come up with five episodes that will help get you ready for the return of Roswell, New Mexico on the CW.

For some honorable mention episodes that you may want to add to the watch list if you have the time before Season 3 premieres, we might suggest, the Pilot episode, episode 3 of Season 1 “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” and episode 5 of Season 1 “Don’t Speak.” (If you hadn’t noticed a theme, our honorable mentions are early episodes that set the stage for what is to come.)

5 episodes of Roswell, New Mexico to watch before the third season premieres

  • Season 1, Episode 13: “Recovering the Satellites” – In the finale of the first season, it felt like everything came together and we got a chance to really do a deep dive into these characters. We saw the villain they were coming up against and it was a devastating moment for everyone involved. But ultimately, this episode sets the stage for everything that is to come and has a ripple effect that we will still be dealing with in Season 3.
  • Season 2, Episode 1: “Stay (I Missed You)” – The fallout from the Season 1 finale is still being felt in massive ways. And with more than one character lost, while another is brought back from the dead, the second season starts off with a bang and keeps up the heat for all 13 episodes.
  • Season 2, Episode 3: “Good Mother” – Trying to find the truth about when the aliens crashed in Roswell is something that actually plays a major part of the entire second season. And we already know that the third season is going to continue this storyline in a big way. So it makes sense that we would turn to this episode which sees Alex and Michael working together for a change to find the truth.
  • Season 2, Episode 10: “American Woman” – In the lead-up to the Season 2 finale, this episode was a major step forward in learning a lot of truth. And we aren’t just talking about alien truths. In fact, this entire season was about more than just the aliens, it was also about some of the people who lived in this town when the aliens first arrived. “American Woman” was as much a look back, as it was a guide to what could be on the horizon going forward.
  • Season 2, Episode 13: “Mr. Jones” – It just makes sense that before we kick off a new season, we watch the final episode of the previous one. After all, it ended with a bang in a way we did not expect. This is where everything falls apart and in some cases, proves that there is a long road ahead for our characters. From someone saying goodbye to meeting someone unexpected and potentially very dangerous, things are about to go sideways for our resident aliens of Roswell, and this episode leaves us ready for anything.
