It’s finally here, it’s Christmas in July. While we still have a few months of waiting before Christmas gets here, celebrating Christmas in July is a fun tradition. One of the biggest ways to celebrate is by listening to Christmas music. If you’re looking for some new Christmas music to add to your playlist, Taylor Swift’s Christmas album might be the biggest surprise you’re in for.

Some might be wondering when Taylor Swift released a Christmas album. Some might not even know she had a Christmas album ever. Thankfully, you don’t have to question anymore as the answers are relatively simple and painless. Taylor Swift actually released a Christmas “album” back in 2007 which was actually only an EP featuring some iconic Christmas songs.

Some might know under the name of “Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection.” However, the short Christmas EP featuring our favorite country songstress is actually pretty delightful. It includes some iconic and beloved Christmas songs while also featuring some written by Miss Swift herself. It’s been a long-forgotten part of Taylor Swift’s discography for years now and it’s time it finally gets some attention.

Even if you don’t listen to it during Christmas in July, it’s the perfect thing for your Christmas playlist in November and December. However, if you’re a fan of Taylor Swift and you love Christmas in July, let’s get into why it’s such a good EP and why Taylor Swift should bless us by re-recording it for Christmas in July.

Taylor Swift’s Christmas album should be the ultimate Christmas in July treat.

It would only be right to start things off by breaking down the tracklist of the EP in case you haven’t listened to it yet. The album kicks off with the iconic track, “Last Christmas” which has been covered numerous times by various artists. By Taylor Swift though, the song has a more upbeat vibe rather than being somber. She really brings new life to the song while still showing appreciation towards the original.

Next up is “Christmases When You Were Mine” which is an original Christmas song written by Swift, Liz Rose, and Nathan Chapman. Of all the songs on the album, this is easily the most beautiful of the bunch. As far as somber Christmas songs go, this one is easily one of the saddest yet most beautifully written. With lyrics like “When you were putting up the lights this year/Did you notice one less pair of hands?/I know this shouldn’t be a lonely time/But there were Christmases when I didn’t wonder how you are tonight,” this is easily the best song from the album.

The next two songs on the tracklist are “Santa Baby” and “Silent Night.” Once again, two iconic Christmas songs that Swift put her own twist on. While they don’t touch the original versions, she puts her all into the songs and they’re well-done. The final Christmas song penned by Swift is “Christmas Must Be Something More,” which is a Christmas song actually focused on the reason for the season, a clear companion to “Silent Night” on the album. Finally, the album caps off with “White Christmas,” which is the iconic song written by Irving Berlin.

With such an iconic yet short tracklist, now would be the perfect time for Taylor Swift to bless us with a Christmas in July album. While she probably couldn’t feature all of the songs on the album, she could put her own twist on it. We would still be getting “Christmases When You Were Mine” and “Christmas Must Be Something More,” of course.

However, she could re-record those songs and package them along with “Christmas Tree Farm” as it’s such a delightful song. No doubt Taylor has written more original Christmas songs we haven’t heard yet. She could put them all together and re-record her own EP on her own terms since Big Machine Records wants to try to stifle her success as much as possible.

For both Taylor and us as fans, this would be a nice treat since her version of Red won’t be released until November. While it might not come out until the end of July, it would still be something to look forward to. Taylor Swift isn’t known for her Christmas songs, but it’s time she changes the narrative which she’s great at.

I’m sure I speak for any and all Taylor Swift fans when we say that we’d love a Christmas in July album from her. It might be right in the dead of summer but we’ll grab our cardigans and mugs of hot chocolate and drink around under Christmas lights for Taylor Swift. We can only hope that Taylor Swift decides to grace us with a Christmas album in this summer heat to cool things down.
