Time to race on Hot Wheels roller coaster at the Mattel Adventure Park
Watch out Orlando, the Mattel Adventure Park has just broken ground in Glendale, Arizona. While the new theme park may not be ready to open its doors this year, many people will be watching the progress to see when they can bring those iconic Hot Wheels cars off the tracks and go for a real-life spin.
In many ways, theme parks take imagination and turn it into a fantasy come to life. Many of these experiences take fictional characters and lands off the page and screen and transform them into a real life fantasy world. From casting a wizard’s spell to a sprinkling of pixie dust, those special attractions let guests leave a part of the real world behind and step into a world where anything is possible.
For many people, Mattel and its various iconic toys have been part of people’s childhood. Long before there was Fast and Furious, people imagined Hot Wheels cars racing across the roads, jumping between buildings and reaching the fastest speeds.
That spark of imagination wasn’t limited to just Hot Wheels. From Thomas the Tank Engine fostering a love of travel to Barbie and her abundant world, those toys were just as important to growing up as it was to learn those lessons in school.
What can guests expect from Mattel Adventure Park?
According to various sources, the Mattel Adventure Park will be part of Crystal Lagoons Island Resort in Glendale, Arizona. As said by Julie Freeland, senior director, global location-based entertainment, Mattel:
"“By partnering with Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, we will be offering new and immersive ways for families to experience classic brands like Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends, and more.”"
Although all the details have yet to be revealed, the new destination looks to be family-centric location. In addition to the attractions, ABC News reports, “the 48-acre entertainment district first announced in 2020 and touted to have world-class hotels, restaurants, a concert venue, a beach, a ‘Fly’ theater, and a 4-D theater.”
Looking at these descriptions, it appears that this family entertainment destination has a similar feel to Legoland Florida. Although not specifically stated, the attractions should be geared toward a multi-generational audience. From the kids being able to enjoy some thrills to the parents being able to enjoy a nice night out, the wide appeal makes it both a destination and a place for locals.
At the same time, many people will want the Hot Wheels roller coaster to be a thrill ride. Given that many new roller coasters can be adapted to be a family experience, Hot Wheels are about speed. This roller coaster cannot be a casual ride around a track.
More details on the Mattel Adventure Park will be revealed at a later date. Until then, grab a Hot Wheels car and put your imagination on the course to a new race to the finish line.
