In the Heights, The Conjuring 3, and more coming to HBO Max in June

A new month means an exciting batch of new content is arriving on HBO Max! As has been the case for much of 2021 thus far, the big news for the streamer is the simultaneous release of a big theatrical property on the streamer on the same day that it arrives in theaters. But this month, we don’t just have one big movie release – there are two! (And they’re likely aimed at very different audiences.)
Horror sequel The Conjuring: The Devil Made Do It arrives on June 4 and is the third installment in the popular franchise focused on paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. This sequel – which appears to be getting back to the franchise’s Warren-focused roots – will focus on one of their most infamous real-life cases – the first time in U.S. history in which demonic possession was used as a murder defense.
Elsewhere, the long-awaited feature film adaptation of Tony-winning Broadway musical In the Heights arrives in theaters and on the streamer beginning June 11, and if the promise of heartfelt songs, large-scale dance numbers, and Lin-Manuel Miranda isn’t enough to get you excited, well, I don’t know what to tell you.
Interestingly enough, there’s not much to speak of in terms of original series content on HBO Max in June, though the season finale of the very underrated comedy Hacks lands on June 10 and the documentary Revolution Rent premieres on June 15.
