Odette Annable promoted to series regular for Walker season 2
Cordell Walker (Jared Padalecki), titular hero of The CW’s Walker, has gained a new partner for season 2. Odette Annable – who currently has a recurring role as the barkeeper Geraldine “Geri” Broussard – has been recruited to series regular for the upcoming new season.
Geri is a long-time friend of both Walker and his late wife, Emily (Genevieve Padalecki), as well as his possibly blooming love interest. After his wife’s murder, Walker returned to his hometown in Austin, Texas to solve crimes and reconnect with his family. Along the way, he partnered up with Micki Ramirez (The 100 starLindsey Morgan), a wisecracking ranger who is just finding out secrets of her own life.
Annable has guest-starred in six episodes in season 1 so far. Her character is not without drama of her own: She was initially suspected of being connected to Emily’s death, but since the real murderer has been found as of the series’ most recent episode, she’s now free to maybe possibly pursue something romantic with Emily’s husband.
In “Rule Number 17,” the apair shared a kiss, but though the tension between them had been building up, there’s no hint yet about where their relationship will go. (Though Geri did sell her bar, Sidestep, to Walker since she needed the cash and Walker was asking her about a bad loan.
Annable’s other acting credits include roles in The CW’s Supergirl, as well as Tell Me a Story, Brothers and Sisters, House, The Astronaut Wives Club, and Banshee. She also lent her voice as Chloe the Chihuahua in Disney’s Direct to DVD Beverly Hills Chihuahua franchise.
Walker was the highest-rated CW series premiere in five years-earning 2.4 million viewers when it debuted earlier this year. It earned an early season two renewal in February following its successful debut, along with five additional season 1 episodes. (For a total of 18.)
After an almost month-long hiatus,Walker will return to The CW on May 6th with all-new episode, “Encore”.
