The final season of Supergirl is fast approaching and Kara’s final flight will coincide with the spring hiatus of CW’s new runaway hit Superman & Lois. The Supergirl season 6 premiere is Tuesday, March 30.

According to TV Line, Supergirl will take over the Superman & Lois time slot on Tuesday nights until it returns from its spring hiatus in May. From there, Supergirl will return to finish out its final season over the summer.

It has been bittersweet seeing the return of Superman to primetime knowing that his cousin’s show is about to head off into the sunset, but in many ways Kara’s presence will be felt throughout the Arrowverse even after she’s gone.

Melissa Benoist reflects on the end of Supergirl as the final season looms

Bringing Supergirl to life has been a honor for Benoist, who has enjoyed every moment of her time in the role:

"Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless. She’s had that impact on me, too. She’s taught me strength I didn’t know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we’re united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I’m forever grateful."

Not much is known about how Supergirl’s sixth season will play out and what’s in store for Kara and everyone around her. On the other side of the camera, star Azie Tesfai penned a script in season 6, marking the first time an Arrowverse actor has gone into the writers room on any Arrowverse show. TV Line reports that Tesfai co-wrote episode 12, which will likely air over the summer when the series wraps.

It’s hard to think about the end of Supergirl knowing that there are two series featuring the House of El are when one is beginning and the other is ending. It would have been perfect to have Benoist guest star on Superman & Lois as the show gets off the ground. Given the health of the CW’s new Kryptonian series, which was recently renewed for a second season, there’s every reason to believe that the door is open if Benoist ever wanted to return for a cameo in the future.
