With so many television shows in the works for Disney+, Star Wars fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about the next few years. Among those is Obi-Wan, a miniseries that will see Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Anakin’s (now former) mentor — and although the show itself is reason enough to celebrate, fans have found another thing to cheer about: the return of the actor’s beard.

McGregor has famously sported his beard while playing Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequel films, though it’s not the only time he’s grown it out. However, given that production on Obi-Wan is set to begin this month, it seems like this time, the look is specifically for the role.

Fans got a peek at McGregor’s beard when Randy Carlson posted a photo to Instagram, sharing that he and McGregor were hanging out together. Although it’s not a set photo, it’s nice to know the actor is going for the same scruffy look he had at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

We love continuity, especially when it intersects with a great-looking beard.

Ewan McGregor’s beard is one thing Star Wars fans can agree on

The Star Wars fanbase is notorious for its online feuds, but one thing everyone seems to agree on is the excitement surrounding the return of Ewan McGregor — and his beard.

Once Carlson’s photo made the rounds, news outlets and Twitter users quickly began gushing about it, proving McGregor still has us ensnared by his charm.

Unfortunately, the beard news didn’t prompt any updates about the actor’s upcoming Disney+ series. Considering the show is still in the early stages of production, it’s unlikely fans will see it anytime soon. Thankfully, we have small things like this to keep us going.
