Plague or Bloody Mary: Vote now for the AHS finalists
What’ll it be, AHS fans? Bloody Mary, or the Plague? American Horror Story is letting fans choose an upcoming story in its expanded universe and the vote has come down to Bloody Mary or the Plague after Piggy Man, Xmas Horror, Sirens and Aliens were eliminated after the first and second rounds of voting.
AHS creator Ryan Murphy is soliciting feedback from fans about the theme of an upcoming season of American Horror Story, and based on the feedback in his social media posts the fans have lots of opinions about what’s coming up in the beloved horror franchise.
Over the course of nine seasons, AHS has covered haunted houses, terrifying asylums, covens of witches, a freaky circus, an evil hotel, reality television, elections, and the 1980s. They even covered the apocalypse. And that’s not all, because Murphy loves to layer stories within stories so there were aliens at the asylum and history’s most notorious murderers at the hotel.
With so many themes that have already been explored, when the opportunity to help pick a theme for an upcoming season came along, fans jumped on it.
Upcoming American Horror Story season could explore the plague, Bloody Mary
There’s nothing like a good urban legend-inspired ghost story, and everyone who has ever spent the night at a friend’s house knows the tale of the ghost who appears if you recite her name three times in a darkened bathroom mirror.
However, coming out of 2020, it seems like Plague should be a no-brainer. Whether the story features someone wearing the iconic beaked plague mask made popular when the Black Plague ravaged Europe in the 1300s, or if the story hits closer to home amid the current global pandemic, a plague show could be a winner.
As with AHS: Election, which played upon the uglier side of the 2016 presidential election, a plague story could focus upon just about anything, including masks, running out of toilet paper and even myths about vaccines. (Murphy famously mocked anti-vaxxers in AHS: Hotel)
There is room for all of these new stories when AHS expands in the future. What story would you like to see?
