New Amsterdam season 3 might still be underway on NBC, but the Dam Fam is already looking ahead to what’s next and eager to learn all there is to know about New Amsterdam season 4!

Since premiering in Sept. 2018, New Amsterdam has become one of NBC’s most beloved dramas and it’s not hard to see why. Set in the fictional New York hospital of New Amsterdam, NBC’s medical drama centers around the doctors at America’s oldest public hospital and their work to give their patients the best treatment possible no matter how creative they have to get to do so.

And it’s not just fans who have fallen in love with the show as NBC made evident when it picked the series up for three additional seasons, thus ensuring the series won’t be coming to an end anytime soon.

Is New Amsterdam season 4 happening?

As hinted above, New Amsterdam season 4 is indeed happening. In 2020, NBC handed out a surprise 3-season renewal which included the show’s current third season as well as a fourth and fifth season.

At this time, NBC has not yet announced a premiere date for New Amsterdam season 4; however, unless NBC chooses to move the show to its midseason lineup, season 4 should premiere sometime in September 2021 as part of NBC’s 2021-22 Fall Line-Up.

Because season 3 has not yet come to a close, NBC has not released an official synopsis for season 4 of New Amsterdam. That said, fans should expect more of Max Goodwin and the New Amsterdam docs fighting the good fight and working to treat many more patients in need of help.

While the cast for New Amsterdam season 4 has not been confirmed, we’re not anticipating any major casting changes between seasons. Barring any surprise departures, Ryan Eggold (Dr. Max Goodwin), Janet Montgomery (Dr. Lauren Bloom), Freema Agyeman (Dr. Helen Sharpe), Jocko Sims (Dr. Floyd Reynolds) and Tyler Labine (Dr. Iggy Frome) should all be back for season 4. We’re also hopeful for the returns of Anupam Kher (Dr. Vijay Kapoor), Christine Chang (Dr. Agnes Kao) and Daniel Dae Kim (Dr. Cassian Shin).
