The CW’s Legacies may include numerous supernatural creatures, but the three main species that attend the Salvatore School are witches, vampires and werewolves. However, of the three, witches get the most attention.

Witches have been essential to beating the Malivore monsters. However, this system doesn’t do many favors to the other supernatural beings.

MG and Kaleb have been important to Legacies since the beginning, yet there have not been many episodes focused on them and their vampirism.

“The Boy Who Still Has a Lot of Good to Do” improves on that, giving MG a fleshed-out backstory, explaining his relationships with his parents. There was even a reference at one point in the series that MG could be a Ripper.

Unfortunately, Legacies hasn’t gone beyond that suggestion. Given that MG has lived in a controlled environment and that vampires are given animal blood rather than human blood, it makes sense that MG hasn’t gotten to the dangerous lengths seen by Stefan Salvatore. MG being a younger vampire and mainly staying at school also eliminates years’ worth of guilt that would have come with hurting and killing others.

But, by not going further, the series has yet to address the full capabilities vampires hold. Kaleb even tells Alaric that he felt drained after compulsion, and that they should have access to the full range of their powers.

MG and Kaleb have been significant to the overall story and participating in the Super Squad activities. They have remained steady friends in the face of hardship but have not gotten the opportunity to explore different aspects of vampirism.

Jade, a supporting character that has only appeared in a handful of episodes, has shown more sides of vampirism than either of the two lead vampires. Jade was shown to be a Ripper and had turned off her humanity.

While these elements are dangerous, it is a part of what it means to be a vampire. But, Legacies hasn’t explored the dark parts of such an identity, choosing to stay out of the way of such violent behavior.

MG and Kaleb have discussed keeping an eye on each other and looking out for the other. Still, the series has not even explored them learning to control themselves, the extent of their skills or studying vampire history in classes.

Vampires have the ability to play crucial roles in Legacies, with their abilities being more utilized than they have been thus far. Witches have gotten the chance to dive into different areas of magic, but in comparison, vampires have not had the same chance to shine.
