After delivering nine seasons of thrills and chills, the American Horror Story franchise shows no signs of slowing down and now the countdown to season 10 can begin with the announcement of the official title of the season.

According to social media, the title of American Horror Story season 10 will be “Double Feature”, and there is a distinct nautical theme to the season as seen through the crashing waves breaking on a sandy beach with the following message:

“The title of American Horror Story 10 is Double Feature. Two horrifying stories, one season.  One by the sea, one by the sand. More to come…”

Here’s what we know about American Horror Story season 10

Ryan Murphy is a master at deception, but the 35-second teaser has enough seaside references to suggest that the show is set at the beach. Murphy’s Instagram post’s location says Provincetown, Massachusetts, which is another hint about the upcoming season.

Provincetown is an LGBTQ+ hotspot, a beautiful seaside town set 60 miles out to sea. The town celebrates individualism and expression, which could play heavily into the upcoming season. A photograph of season 10 cast members Leslie Grossman and newcomer Macaulay Culkin was shared on Murphy’s IG and they’re on a beach, so the beach seems to be a recurring theme.

On the other hand, Murphy shared a chilling photo of a shadowy figure moving down an empty street. This image also lists Provincetown as the location, and based on the houses lining the street it looks like a sleepy little beach town that has come under siege by creepy creatures.

It’s always important to remember that no matter how many pieces of the puzzle Murphy reveals prior to a new season, they should never be taken at face value. Not entirely, anyway. Season 2’s Asylum was indeed set in an asylum, and season 5’s Hotel took place in a hotel, but the stories were like nothing anyone imagined until the story actually unfolded.

In addition to Grossman and Culkin it has been revealed that Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Finn Wittrock and Lily Rabe will all return to the series for season 10.
