How much longer will you have to wear masks at Disney World?
While guests have learned to wear masks at Disney World, some people are wondering how long the health and safety precautions will last. From the social distancing to the Disney Parks attendance modifications, many guests have learned to accept the modified magic. But, will guests always have to wear masks at Disney World?
In a recent Disney financials call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek commented on mask mandates, social distancing, and other safety protocols. Chapek believes that guests feel comfortable with the current health and safety protocols at Disney Parks and more guests have started to return to the parks.
As some parks wait to re-open and others increase capacity, various safety protocol measures will continue to be in place for 2021. Chapek anticipates having guests wear masks at Disney World through the end of 2021. But, Chapek shared that he believes that mandates will be eased in 2022.
Although no one has a crystal ball, many people will appreciate the hope that next year brings a slight return to normal. Whether it is walking around World Showcase with a cocktail or slowly enjoying that Mickey Ice cream in the shadows of Cinderella’s Castle, the freedom to eat and drink as you stroll the park can make guests linger longer.
For the most part, theme park guests have learned to adapt to the health and safety protocols. Although there can be occasional missteps, most people are happy to follow the rules so that they can enjoy that Disney magic.
Recently, Disney announced that Disneyland will open for a food festival with limitations. Also, the company is moving ahead with the Epcot redesign, including the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
With the 50th anniversary of Disney World this year, it can be expected that Disney Parks will do something momentous to mark the occasion. Although the crowds might be smaller and the celebrations might be slightly modified, many Disney fans will want to celebrate the milestone. Even if the celebration happens from afar, there is still much Disney magic to be had.
For now, it sounds like theme park guests will need to come well prepared with a few extra masks in their travel bag. But, in the new year, the fashion will be all about those Minnie ears, not matching your face mask to your outfit.
