Schitt’s Creek, Umbrella Academy among nominees for the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards

Awards season is on the horizon, and GLAAD has published the list of nominees for the 32nd annual GLAAD Media Awards, which, per the organization’s website, “honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives.”

Like most award shows, the GLAAD Media Awards cover television series, limited series, films, documentaries, and more, all spanning a number of genres. There are plenty of recognizable films and series on this year’s list of nominees, including Schitt’s Creek, which swept the comedy category during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Other comedy television series included on the list are Sex Education, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Harley Quinn, Dead to Me, and Love, Victor. Drama series nominees include hits like The Umbrella Academy, 9-1-1: Lone Star, Star Trek: Discovery, Supergirl, and Wynonna Earp. Some notable limited series, like The Haunting of Bly Manor and Little Fires Everywhere, were also recognized.

In the film categories, LGBTQ+ hits like Happiest Season, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Old Guard, and The Prom were nominated for awards. Limited-release films had even more nominees, with Ammonite, The Boys in the Band, and The Half of It being some of the biggest names on the list.
