Schitt’s Creek is a comedic gem gifted to us all the way from Canada, and here are 10 reasons why you need to be watching it.

Every so often, a show comes along that you love, and you realize you don’t have anyone to talk to about it! This is the unfortunate downside of falling in love with a criminally underrated show, like Schitt’s Creek.

Schitt’s Creek is a Canadian television show produced by CBC, but also appears on Netflix, and was picked up by the American network Pop. Once fans around the world got a taste of the modest Canadian comedy, people realized it wasn’t just some bad, low-budget Canadian project. But with stars like Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy involved, how could you go wrong?

The show is about the Rose family. Patriarch Johnny Rose is a wealthy video store magnate, known for his chain Rose Video, and his wife Moira is a has-been soap star. Their adult children, David and Alexis, are spoiled socialites who never had to work hard for anything in their life, and you can tell. It all goes down the drain when the family loses their entire fortune thanks to a shady business manager, and all they have left is one asset: a small town that Johnny bought as a joke for David’s birthday years ago.

And the name of the town — Schitt’s Creek — perfectly sums up how the family feels about their new home. (Funny enough, when the show was being promoted on American daytime TV, the anchors had to say “Schitt, like Schmidt” every time to avoid getting in trouble, or else it was censored.)

You might not be sold on watching it just yet, so here are 10 reasons why you definitely need to check out Schitt’s Creek.
