The Biden-Harris inauguration day playlist is just what we needed this week
The Biden-Harris inauguration day playlist has been released! See what performers made the cut.
History is about to be made once again with the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Come this Wednesday, Biden will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, and Harris will become the first-ever woman of color (and woman in general) to hold the role of Vice President.
The event and activities surrounding it will go a different route this year in accordance with the pandemic and heightened security measures following the Capitol Breach on January 6. Nonetheless, Biden’s and Harris’s inauguration will still be monumental.
And Biden and Harris — curating alongside Raedio — have selected an “empowering” 46-song playlist that represents country unity and renewal ahead of Inauguration Day. It has been said that music is the universal language of strength, unity, and igniting hopeful light. The list is an eclectic mix of classics and modern, with artists ranging from Springsteen to Beyoncé to Hall and Oates (and those are just a few who have been selected).
Top music streaming platform Spotify has shared a rather uplifting description of the chosen music:
"“As this wonderous transition of power ensues, we strongly hold the joy of these select songs to be self-evident.”"
Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud have all released the official inauguration playlist. View and listen to the full, three-hour set right here:

Along with an impressive playlist, multiple guests have been scheduled to perform at this week’s inauguration. Performers include Lady Gaga (set to sing the National Anthem), Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, and a handful of others have been included in the honorable celebration.
Actor Tom Hanks, who recovered from COVID-19 last year, will also host a primetime special concluding the day’s events.
The acts and special will be done virtually as per COVID-19 and CDC guidelines.
