Everyone who has watched Bridgerton knows that there are tons of dreamy moments, mostly from our main heartthrob, the Duke of Hastings.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Bridgerton.

Netflix’s latest television show Bridgerton is a steamy mix of Gossip Girl and Downton Abbey. It has lots of sexy scenes (that might shock your mother), but there are also more tame moments that will get your heart fluttering.

While the Bridgerton brothers are certainly gorgeous, the show’s most swoon-worthy moments all come from the romantic lead Simon Basset, played by the handsome Regé-Jean Page.

Simon’s certainly not a perfect suitor; his reluctance to be honest about his problems stemming from his troubled upbringing almost ruins his relationship with Daphne. But he’s sure to please anyone who has a fondness for Pride and Prejudice‘s Mr. Darcy.

5. Simon and that spoon

Based on Twitter reactions, I’m not the only one who was stopped in their tracks by Simon licking that spoon in the tea shop in Episode 3.

Not only does it now seem like foreshadowing for some of the sexier scenes that follow in later episodes, but it’s also fun to watch Daphne get flustered by him.

4. The duel

There’s a lot to unpack in the duel scene in Episode 4 from Simon’s disheveled appearance to his concern when he thinks Daphne has been injured.

And of course, there’s also his confession that the reason he doesn’t want to marry Daphne is because he can’t give her the children that he knows she wants (even if we later find out this is more complicated).

3. Simon rolling his sleeves up at the boxing match

When Anthony takes Daphne to the boxing match to spend more time with Prince Frederick in Episode 4, her head is turned by Simon rolling up his sleeves as he watches his friend Will.

Of course, in the Regency period, it makes sense that she would rarely have seen a man’s forearms, but it’s distracting even for modern viewers (and a great example of the female gaze of this show).

2. The “Wildest Dreams” sequence

I’m sure some people would place this scene from Episode 6 of Daphne and Simon consummating their marriage in a handful of outdoor locations at his estate at the top of their list.

While the actors’ chemistry and the equally balanced nudity are enough reasons to love it, having an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” playing makes it even better.

1. Simon telling Daphne, “I burn for you”

For all of us Mr. Darcy fans who long for someone to tell us that they love us “most ardently,” Simon’s confession in Episode 5 is sure to be thrilling.

When he tells Daphne, “I burn for you,” I realized that he might have raised my expectations far too high for any modern man to ever meet. Of course, Page’s fantastic acting only elevates the dreamy writing of his character and this scene is a great example of that.

Bridgerton is a sexy period drama with intriguing relationships and gorgeous visuals. dark. Next
