Introducing the cast of Netflix’s new series Bridgerton
Regé-Jean Page as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings
The dashing Simon Basset is played by British actor Regé-Jean Page. This British actor has appeared on television shows like BBC’s Waterloo Road and Shonda Rhimes’s For the People. You can also see him in Amazon’s newly released film, Sylvie’s Love, which stars Tessa Thompson.
Earlier this month, he expressed his excitement at being on the cover of the Bridgerton series tie-in novel. You can follow Page on Instagram and Twitter.
Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
Irish actress Nicola Coughlan is playing Penelope, the youngest of the Featherington sisters. Coughlan is best known for her work on popular television series, Harlots and Derry Girls. She also has theatre credits, including The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the Donmar Warehouse.
Lately, she has been sharing lots of Bridgerton content on her social media. You can follow Coughlan on Instagram and Twitter.
Bessie Carter as Prudence Featherington
As the daughter of Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter (who you probably know as Mr. Carson on Downton Abbey), I can’t imagine anyone better to be in the hottest new period drama than Bessie Carter.
She has recently been in two other period drama series, Howards End and Beecham House. You can follow Carter on Instagram.
Harriet Cains as Phillippa Featherington
English actress Harriet Cains plays the middle Featherington daughter.
Like many of the cast of Bridgerton, one of her early roles was on the television show Doctors. She has also appeared on television series including In the Flesh and Marcella.
Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury
Lady Danbury is played by English actress Adjoa Andoh, who has a lengthy career in theatre, television, and film. Most notably, she was in the film Invictus, on many episodes of BBC’s Casualty, and portrayed companion Martha’s mother Francine on Doctor Who.
She has worked at many of the best theatres in London including the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Donmar Warehouse, Shakespeare’s Globe, Royal Court Theatre, and the Bridge Theatre. You can follow Andoh on Instagram and Twitter.
Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte
Golda Rosheuvel plays Queen Charlotte, the top of British society. Rosheuvel has appeared in television series ranging from Silent Witness to Torchwood. She also was in the film, Lady Macbeth, which stars Florence Pugh. Most recently, she played the Ghost of Christmas Present in the Old Vic’s live stream production of A Christmas Carol. You can follow Rosheuvel on Instagram and Twitter.
Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown
Film and theatre legend Julie Andrews acts as the narrator, providing the voice of Lady Whistledown, as heard in the series’ trailers. You most likely know her as Maria in The Sound of Music or as the titular role in Mary Poppins. Or maybe you think of her as the Queen of Genovia in The Princess Diaries. She has won an Oscar and multiple Grammys, Emmys, and Golden Globes.
