Miley Cyrus’ new album, Plastic Hearts, showcases the singer at her best — and we’ll be listening to it on repeat.

Miley Cyrus dropped her new album, Plastic Hearts, today — and we aren’t ashamed to admit we’ve already listened to it on repeat several times in the past few hours. Her first full-length album since 2017, Plastic Hearts is a reminder of why so many fans love Miley in the first place. This album captures the singer-songwriter at her best, and its sound is something we’d like to hear more of in the future.

Telling a story of change and all the complicated feelings that accompany it, Plastic Hearts will appeal to any music fan who enjoys songs that tackle the harder emotions we all deal with. Miley has said that her new album was impacted and delayed because of major events that shaped her life, presumably referring to losing her California home and splitting from Liam Hemsworth.

Listen to “Plastic Hearts,” one of the tracks from Miley’s new album, below:

Part of what’s lovely about Plastic Hearts, though, is that it doesn’t solely focus on the pain that comes with major changes in life. It also preaches loving yourself and being in your own corner, even if no one else seems to be. After all, who else is going to lift you up through the hard times?

Miley’s message of acceptance and her own confidence shine through in this album, and those are themes we’d like to see most people, and especially young women, embrace. There’s no denying the singer has received her own share of criticism over the years, but she’s clearly happy with the person she’s become.

The combination of upbeat, pop-rock tracks and slower, more melodious tunes also makes Plastic Hearts a pleasure to listen to. There’s a song for every mood and emotion on this album, and that’s one of its strengths. Whether you’re looking to dance or have a good cry, you can find a song to help you with that.

If you haven’t dived into Plastic Hearts yet, it’s something you should add to your to-do list. Miley is at her best in this new album, and we’re 100 percent here for it.
