The Masked Singer: Broccoli gets revealed as a seasoned singer

The Masked Singer unmasked Broccoli during its special Thanksgiving episode.

Judge Robin Thicke guessed it right, picking up on the Canadian accent and knowing exactly who was behind Broccoli, before the character took off their mask.
Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor Paul Anka was revealed. Anka, whose son-in-law is Hollywood actor Jason Bateman, made it down to the “super six” on season four of FOX’s The Masked Singer. After his unveiling, he expressed his gratitude for being on the show.
“It was a great, great kick” being Broccoli, Anka told the judges. “You know, these 65 years, I’ve never been out of work. So I said, ‘You know what? I got to get on the boards again and I’m going to go and have some fun’; because I’m going to come home and enjoy it with the kids. I’m very humbled because we have gone through something in our country, and to have this kind of fun and enjoy this like this, you should all be very proud.”
One of the biggest hints the “Diana” singer dropped was in his first clue package, with the opening words, “Here’s Broccoli.” Where have we heard that before? On The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, a talk show Anka wrote the theme song for.
Even at 79 years old, this contestant brought an athleticism to his performance like no other. Using his legs to sing to his knees and dance around stage was a priority for Anka going in. Anka was able to master such with Broccoli’s head on his shoulders.
“Once you got used to…being here and the mask and the whole experience of this, then it came easy at some point where you were able to function,” Anka revealed in his unmasked interview. “I knew that if I was going to do it, and the music I wanted to do, I’d have to have some real mobile aspects to it.”
Before his departure, Anka looked his Broccoli mask in the eyes one last time.
“Hey, B-Man, all that sweat in there, man did we work hard and you didn’t let me down. And every time I sit down and look at a plate of you, I’m going to have trouble swallowing it,” Anka said.
