Jennifer Aniston: Voting for Kanye West is ‘not funny’
Jennifer Aniston shared a photo of herself dropping off her ballot this week, and she had a very direct message for anyone debating voting for Kanye West.
Jennifer Aniston is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and she’s using her platform to emphasize the importance of voting in the United States election this year. She shared a photo of herself dropping off her ballot on Thursday, explaining why she’s supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
The actress begged voters to consider who their actions will ultimately affect, highlighting the impact the election could have on women, people of color, LGBTQ+ citizens, and other vulnerable groups. The actress wrote:
"“I urge you to really consider who is going to be most affected by this election if we stay on the track we’re on right now… your daughters, the LGBTQ+ community, our Black brothers and sisters, the elderly with health conditions, and your future kids and grandkids (who will be tasked with saving a planet that our leadership refuses to believe is hurting). ⠀⠀This whole thing isn’t about one candidate or one single issue, it’s about the future of this country and of the world. Vote for equal human rights, for love, and for decency.”"
Aniston’s message wasn’t just about voting in support of human rights, however. She ended her post with some direct words for anyone considering voting for Kanye West: “PS – It’s not funny to vote for Kanye. I don’t know how else to say it. Please be responsible.”
Sadly, it’s a necessary point to make since Kanye announced his half-hearted presidential campaign earlier this year. Although the rapper never made a serious effort to run — he’s mentioned it a few times since, but didn’t partake in any of the primary activities — he has appeared on the ballots in several states, and there’s always the possibility fans might write in his name.
At this point, it’s basically impossible for Kanye to win, but his presence on the ballots could sway the election if enough voters choose him over Donald Trump or Biden. That’s why Aniston’s message of responsibility is so urgent.
