Haunting of Bly Manor confirms its setting

We officially know the setting of Netflix’s Haunting of Bly Manor and that means we are in for even more thrills and chills than the first season. And while there is nothing truly tying the seasons together, beyond a few returning cast members and a haunted house/mansion, we already know that we are in for a spooky ride.

While Haunting of Hill House was set between two eras, 1992 and present, with Bly Manor, we are going a bit further back and to a different country. According to PopSugar, Mike Flanagan, who is the showrunner for the series, has revealed that this season will primarily be set in 1987. And when it comes to the physical location, we will be in the English countryside.

Haunting of Bly Manor takes us to the English countryside in 1987

If you are a fan of horror and scary stories, you’re likely already familiar with the short story that Bly Manor is based on. From the time we learned about this second season, we knew that it would be based around the novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.

And whether you already knew the story or you decided to read it now in preparation for the second season of Haunting goodness, it is easy to tell that this is going to be another spooky thrill ride for viewers. (Even if you don’t know the story, the teaser for the season has already given us an idea of what to expect.)

Honestly, while it is definitely exciting that they are using the Henry James story as their inspiration, there is no doubt that any haunted mansion in the late 1980s in the English countryside is going to be spooky. And we are here for that, especially after the creepy magic of Haunting of Hill House!
