Hulu releases first images and descriptions for new supernatural Marvel series Helstrom
By Shaun Stacy
Hulu has released images from their upcoming supernatural Marvel series Helstrom, along with the titles and synopses of the first three episodes.
One of the last Marvel Television series to be green-lit before it was absorbed by Marvel Studios, Helstrom is slated to premiere on Hulu in October of this year and we’ve just gotten a sneak peek at just how the supernatural series will be set up.
Paul Zbyszewski (Lost) will be the showrunner/executive producer and the series will feature a cast led by Tom Austen (The Royals) and Sydney Lemmon (Velvet Buzzsaw) as siblings Daimon and Ana Helstrom.
The series is described as being supernatural with a horror edge to it and portrays the Helstrom siblings as being the children of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The duo works together to track down and battle demons, and criminals, while also dealing with their father’s problematic legacy.
The first images from the series have been released, along with the title and breakdown of each of the first three episodes of Helstrom.
"“Mother’s Little Helpers”: Daimon Helstrom investigates a possessed young boy in Oregon. Meanwhile in San Francisco, Ana Helstrom stages an auction to expose a criminal. Disturbing events at St. Teresa’s cause concern as the siblings’ estranged Mother remains hospitalized. “Viaticum”: A horrific accident leads Daimon and Gabriella fighting to save a man’s soul, while a dark force attempts to stop them. Meanwhile, Yen’s relationship with his work takes a dark turn towards obsession, and a discovery leads Ana back to St. Teresa’s. “The One Who Got Away”: Daimon and Ana learn more about the destruction of their father left in his wake. With Gabriella, they pay a visit to a potential victim and find themselves in deeper than they ever could have imagined. Hastings shocks Caretaker with a stunning revelation."
Additional cast members include Ariana Guerra (Gabriella Rosetti), June Carryl (Dr. Louise Hastings), Alain Uy (Chris Yen), Elizabeth Marvel (Victoria Helstrom), and Robert Wisdom (Caretaker).
The series is based on the Marvel comic book characters, who are literally the children of the Devil himself. Although both Daimon and Satana (whose name is shortened to Ana in the series) start out as villains, both eventually become anti-heroes. Both have magical abilities of their own, though it has yet to be seen if they will have these powers in the show itself.
Helstrom is scheduled to be a part of next week’s San Diego Comic-Con at Home panels. Zbyszewski and members of the cast are slated to appear. If we had to bet, they may also have a trailer ready by then.
