Ryan Murphy hints at the return of Rubber Man in American Horror Story season 10
Ryan Murphy loves to drop hints about American Horror Story leading up to the reveal of what each season’s theme will be. And he is back with a major clue on Instagram.
The very first season of American Horror Story is definitely a classic in terms of the series. And it makes sense that, ever since that season, there have been homages and tributes to those early episodes of the show. Now it looks like series creator, Ryan Murphy, is once again hinting at a look back at season one with the help of a very unique character.
In a post shared to his Instagram, Murphy showed fans a picture of the Rubber Man from season one, which has come to be known as Murder House. And while there are no definite signs that this is going to be something to look out for in season 10, the caption of the post does say, “Coming soon…” — which certainly seems like a hint of things to come.
Over the years, Murphy has frequently used social media to tease us with clues as to what the new season of American Horror Story will bring. While he has already teased us with a rather unique look at who will be part of the cast, it didn’t give us much to work with in terms of what season 10’s theme will be. But with this reminder of the Rubber Man, it could mean bringing a very familiar villain back into the fold.
As Elite Daily pointed out, a number of characters in the series have donned the latex suit shown in the Instagram picture. And while Rubber Man was primarily seen during Murder House, the character did make a return in season 8, Apocalypse, when characters returned to the house that was the star of that first season.
If Rubber Man really is going to play a part in season 10, it begs the question of whether or not this season is going to return to Murder House like the show did a few seasons ago. And if it does return to its origins, does that mean this is another crossover opportunity?
Even if we aren’t returning to the house that started it all, we could be seeing a character who has already donned the suit bringing Rubber Man out to play. Then again, this could be a chance for an entirely new character to have some fun (okay, that sounds awful).
Whatever happens with season 10 of American Horror Story, it looks like Murphy is going to keep on teasing us for a bit longer. And we are okay with that, as it does add to the mystery and suspense we already love the show for.
