The main cast members of HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot have been announced, and we can’t wait to see them take the Upper East Side by storm.

HBO Max has a few major streaming services to compete with when it arrives in May, and its plan seems to be to reboot as many favorite series as possible, whether that’s in the form of the new Adventure Time series it has planned or the Friends reunion that’s headed our way. Of course, its Gossip Girl reboot is also amongst its most-anticipated programming, and many fans can’t wait to return to the Upper East Side and find out what drama has been unfolding there.

While the Gossip Girl herself — Kristen Bell — is returning to narrate the new series, none of the original cast are reprising their roles for the reboot. After all, this new show isn’t about them. It may be set in the same world, but its story will take place 10 years later and follow a new set of teens living in Manhattan. And that means a new cast is needed.

This week, five new names were officially added to the Gossip Girl reboot, and with series like Pretty Little Liars and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina under their belts, we’ve no doubt they’ll be capable of capturing the all the drama that’s just par for the course with this seriesThe cast members announced include Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Eli Brown, Jonathan Fernandez, and Jason Gotay.

Details about the characters these actors and actresses will be playing are still sparse, but we do know that Lind will portray Audrey, a teen struggling with what to do about her current relationship. (Sounds familiar, doesn’t it, Blair Waldorf?) According to Deadline, Lind, Peak, and Brown will be the show’s main trio, with Fernandez and Gotay playing supporting members of the group.

Lind took to Instagram to celebrate the casting news after it broke, posting an image of the Deadline article about her role with the caption, “see u soon upper east side, xoxo ;).” (Clearly, she’s already got the Gossip Girl thing down pat.)

The series showrunner, Joshua Safran, also welcomed the new cast members on Twitter, promising that more casting information will be available soon. We’ll be checking our phones until more updates are announced.
