HBO Max is reviving the animated series Adventure Time for four hour-long specials — and we couldn’t be more excited to see what Finn and Jake are up to.

Come on, grab your friends, because HBO Max is reviving the Cartoon Network animated series Adventure Time for four hour-long specials — meaning we’ll get to hang out with Finn and Jake again, finally. It’s been a while since we visited the land of Ooo, but the specials, which will fall under the umbrella title  of Adventure Time: Distant Lands, will transport viewers back there — and hopefully deliver on the ridiculous comedy we’ve been missing since the show ended.

And while we aren’t getting a full season’s worth of content, four hour-long stories is still a pretty great way to catch up with our old pals. Each of the specials already has its own synopsis, and it sounds like Finn and Jake will be taking viewers on some exciting new adventures — from saving the galaxy from a “deadly space emergency” to visiting the Glass Kingdom.

As the overarching title suggests, the theme of the new installments seems to be traveling to far-off places. This means we might get to see parts of Ooo we’ve never been to before, and we’ll also probably be meeting a new character or to. According to TVLine, the episode synopses are as follows:

"“BMO” | “When there’s a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there’s only one hero to call, and it’s probably not BMO. Except that this time it is!”“Obsidian” | “Marceline and Princess Bubblegum journey to the imposing, beautiful Glass Kingdom — and deep into their tumultuous past — to prevent an earthshaking catastrophe.”“Wizard City” | “Peppermint Butler starts over at the beginning, as just another inexperienced Wizard School student. When mysterious events at the campus cast suspicion on Pep, and his checkered past, can he master the mystic arts in time to prove his innocence?”“Together Again” | “Finn and Jake [reunite] to rediscover their brotherly bond and embark on the most important adventure of their lives.”"

Did somebody say Wizard School? Count us in.

With the announcement that Adventure Time would be making a comeback, HBO Max and Cartoon Network also revealed some stunning new promotional art. Cartoon Network Tweeted the new poster, confirming a 2020 release date for the specials, which will be exclusive to HBO Max.

From the looks of it, the gang’s all back — though we are missing a certain creepy Ice King and his pet penguin. (OK, we can live without the Ice King, but where is Gunter?) But Princess Bubblegum, Marceline, and BMO are all present, along with many of the other friends Finn and Jake have made over the years. And all of them look ready for some action. Now let’s just hope 2020 arrives quickly.
