Wizard World attendees will get to see the premiere episode of the new Walking Dead spin-off in early March before the show airs on AMC in April.

The buzz is strong for the latest spin-off of The Walking Deadand Wizard World attendees will be the first audience that gets to see if that buzz is accurate. The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s premiere episode will be screened for convention-goers during the weekend of March 6-8. That’s a little over a month before the show makes a primetime debut on AMC after the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the third show set in The Walking Dead universe, and it will be a limited series that will end after two seasons. The limited format allows the show to tell one complete story from beginning to end, and fans are very curious to see how this story will relate to other stories within The Walking Dead universe.

Unless you’re going to Wizard World, you won’t get to see the full series premiere until April, but you can watch the full trailer for the series here:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set in Nebraska in a community that is part of a network of communities. A group of young people head out into the apocalyptic world that they’ve never experienced in search of the father of two of the characters and to find out what the world beyond their community holds.

Fighting For More Than Survival

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the first show in this universe to follow the story of survivors who never actually had to fight for basic survival. The show is set just about 10 years after the fall of civilization, and the main characters were all just children when the world collapsed. They’ve grown up in a large and very safe community with thousands of people, plenty of supplies, and strong walls. They’re voluntarily going out into the dangerous world of walkers and other threats to look for Hope and Iris’ father, as well as to get a better sense of what the world is like.

Up until this point, both the original show and Fear the Walking Dead have been focused on small groups of survivors banding together in an attempt to stay alive and build some sort of community. Now fans will get to see a totally different aspect of life in the apocalypse world.

It’s All Connected

Scott Gimple, who is the overseer of the entire TWD universe, has confirmed that The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be part of the puzzle of connectivity between all the shows. There may be crossovers of characters at some point, and information given in World Beyond will be relevant to both other shows. He hints that all of the stories being told in the different shows will connect at some point to create a more comprehensive view of the world after everything was destroyed.
