Netflix has dropped the trailer for the second season of You, and it shows Joe taking on a new persona while getting up to the same terrible habits.

When the first season of Netflix’s You dropped last year, we watched as Joe became infatuated with and began stalking Beck, eventually killing her and just about every other person who tried to come between them. And it looks like Joe is up to no good again during the show’s second season — though this time, he seems to be going by the name Will.

Netflix just released the first teaser trailer for the new season, which drops on the streaming platform on December 26 — just in time to enjoy some creepy and depraved storylines right after Christmas!

Watch the teaser trailer for You season 2 here:

The teaser opens with Joe expressing how dark Los Angeles is, as he’s relocated there after covering up his crimes in New York. It’s a ironic moment, if only because L.A. — and California in general — is known for its sunshine. But Joe, of course, is referring to what he sees as the dark side of humanity: the constant desire to put on a facade, pretending life is something it’s not on social media.

And from Joe’s monologuing, it seems he’s found and possibly fallen for another social-media-obsessed writer. Clearly, he has a type. Hopefully, the girl realizes what sort of person Joe is before she gets too tangled up in his life. But given we have a whole new season to look forward to, it’s likely he’ll have a few traumatizing run-ins with unsuspecting victims in L.A.

While the teaser doesn’t show it, the second season of You is also said to hold a surprise for Joe. The end of the first season showed his ex-girlfriend, who most viewers assumed dead, returning to town and looking for him. Perhaps she’ll show up in time to save another girl from his obsessive clutches. We certainly hope so, anyway.

The final moments of the trailer hold the biggest surprise of all, however. When asked for a name with his coffee order, he tells the barista, “Yeah, I’m Will.” It makes a sick sort of sense he’d change his entire persona after fleeing to L.A. to escape murder accusations, but… we have so many questions. For one, was his name ever even Joe to begin with? Perhaps we’ll find out when You season 2 finally drops.

Next. Here is everything coming to Netflix this December. dark
