Batwoman season 1 episode 3 preview: “Down Down Down”
This week’s episode of Batwoman looks to build on the relationships at play in the series — and finally gives us a look at Kate’s full-blown Batwoman costume.
We’ve seen Kate Kane put on the Batwoman costume, but we’ve yet to see her don the entire thing. From the early trailers for The CW’s Batwoman, fans knew that the show’s hero would be adding a pink wig to the equation at some point — and it looks like we’ll finally get to see her in all of her badassery — pink hair and all — during tomorrow’s episode, “Down Down Down.”
And the wig isn’t just there to look amazing; it also distinguishes Kate from Bruce Wayne’s Batman, even from afar. The end of this week’s promo trailer highlights that, having one of the criminals Kate’s pursuing tell her, “You’re not Batman.” Her answer is perfect: “That’s the point.”

Judging by the footage in the promo trailer, Batwoman will be putting a heavy focus on relationships again this week — only this time, it won’t just be Kate and Alice in the limelight. (In fact, Alice is pretty much missing entirely from the teaser.)
An awkward interaction between Kate and Sophie’s husband — along with a very straightforward one between Mary and Sophie — suggests that their former romance will play a bigger role in “Down Down Down.” It’s obvious the two have some residual feelings for one another, and the series will likely play off that tension for the majority of its first season.
“Down Down Down” also appears to deliver on a problem Kate came face to face with at the end of last week’s episode: the fact that the people of Gotham are beginning to look to the “new Batman” for hope. Luke telling Kate that the entire city — including him — is backing her up is a touching moment, and we cant wait to see the scene in its entirety.
It’s probably too soon to say it, but the upcoming episode of Batwoman looks like proof that this series is just going to get better with every episode. We can hope, can’t we?
