The Bourne Stuntacular brings the Bourne franchise to Universal Orlando Resort

The Bourne Stuntacular is coming to Universal Orlando Resort as the Bourne franchise jumps the screen and into this live-action spectacular.

Are you ready for the newest Universal Orlando Resort attraction? The Bourne Stuntacular is coming to Universal Studios in the spring of 2020. This live-action stunt show will create a unique hybrid form of live entertainment that will definitely impress theme park guests. Will it keep you on the edge of your seats?

According to the announcement, the live action stunt show will reference the Bourne film franchise. As the live performers recreate fistfights, chase scenes and a few precarious leaps, the audience should be left speechless.

Beyond being a live-action stunt show, Universal looks to blend “high-tech props and an immense LED screen” into the performance. The combination of technology and live action makes this new performance cutting edge. In some ways, the line between virtual and reality is blurred.

This new experience will take over the former Terminator 2: 3-D location at Universal Studios, in the Hollywood area. Recently, there have been some new walls erected in that area which has lead to speculation that the former attraction was being re-purposed.

Recently, Universal Orlando has started to add a few more interactive elements to its popular attractions. As seen with the Dark Arts takeover at the Hogwarts Castle, the experience isn’t limited to the castle projection. Death Eaters roam Hogsmeade and interact with guests.

The idea of blurring the line between real and screen is becoming more probable. More importantly, guests are wanting bigger, more impressive experiences. When a performance can keep an audience engaged, the show will surely big a success.

At Universal Orlando Resort, there are several shows throughout both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. In most cases, the shows’ themes are based on either popular franchises or well-known characters. These performances help to give theme park guests a break from all the high adrenaline attractions.

It is interesting that Universal chose to launch a live-action stunt show based on the Bourne film franchise. Over the years, the film franchise has made over $1 billion and has been popular with fans and critics.

While another Bourne sequel seems to be in development, the new USA Network series Treadstone continues the Jason Bourne-esque world in a current light. It seems that fans are still wanting these action-packed, world espionage thrillers.

As more details are revealed about the Bourne Stuntacular coming to Universal Orlando Resort, it will be curious to see if the show borrows directly from the original movies or relies on a more general spy vs. spy scenario. No matter the specific plot, the audience should be prepared for jaw dropping action sequences.

Although a specific opening date hasn’t been announced, the show is expected to open in Spring 2020.
