Yup, she’s still 100 percent that b*tch. Lizzo shined at the MTV VMAs on Monday with a booty-popping medley of “Truth Hurts” and “Good as Hell.”

You may only know her from her top-charting anthem “Truth Hurts,” but if her performance at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards proved anything, it’s that Lizzo is an artist you’re going to want to remember. The 31-year-old singer completely stole the show, and not just because of the giant booty balloon that twerked behind her.

A champion of self-love and body positivity, Lizzo mashed up two of her hits for an unforgettable performance that reminded us all to celebrate who we are. Accompanied by dancers of color with full, real bodies, she took to the stage with a clear message for us all.

"“I’m tired of the bullsh*t. And I don’t have to know your story to know that you’re tired of the bullsh*t, too. It’s so hard trying to love yourself in a world that doesn’t love you back, am I right? So I wanna take this opportunity right now to just feel good as hell, because you deserve to feel good as hell. We deserve to feel good as hell!”"

Lizzo has always been open about her struggles with body confidence as a plus-size black woman, but now, she is ready to show the world what self-love looks like and is inspiring women everywhere to give themselves a break.

The morning after the performance, she took to her Instagram to thank her team and reflect on the power she felt on stage:

In addition to the entire arena that she got moving and grooving — including an especially enthusiastic Queen Latifah — Lizzo’s performance also captured the attention of millions on social media, from politicians like Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillibrand to celebrities like Elizabeth Banks and Amber Riley.

The world was instantly infatuated with the performance, many proclaiming just how much it would have meant to them to see someone like Lizzo on their screens when they were younger.
