The Good Place actor Marc Evan Jackson opened up at SDCC about his demon character, Shawn, and teases a juicy final season 4 for the show.

The Good Place has thrown plenty at its characters and its audience in its first three seasons. With season 4 being its last, it looks to go out on a high note.

But that doesn’t mean everything will be resolved when the series finale premieres.

Case in point: Team Cockroach’s biggest adversary: Shawn, played by the wonderful Marc Evan Jackson. You love to hate his character every time he shows his face. And you definitely hated him when Simone showed up in the finale as one of the new test subjects.

So when Culturess had the chance to ask Marc Evan Jackson about his character during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con, of course we had to know about his feelings on his very evil, very solid demon character. His immediate response? “By wave of evil, Shawn is Maximum Derek. Shawn’s at 11 most of the time, I feel,” he says.

But where can a demon really go? How much more evil can Shawn get? Or could he ever be like Ted Danson’s Michael and become a reformed demon? Here are his thoughts:

"Shawn’s a demon. I suppose Michael is, too. I don’t know that Shawn has the potential for growth that we’ve seen in Michael. The system gets addressed — like, they… the judge is involved and we see this at the end of season three, that these questions with Accounting are brought to bear and big things happen in season four that I am simply unable to tell you now."

And what are some of his favorite things about playing Shawn? “The ridiculous things I get to say,” he answers immediately. “Butth*le spiders, penis bees, bye b*tch, eat butt you ding-dongs.”

But on a more serious level, when asked about what he’ll miss once the show is over, he revealed how much he loves (and will miss) working with the other actors:

"I’m not sure any of this is real. I get to go and do scenes with Ted Danson. You know, Ted Danson, like… from TV. And Kristen Bell, D’Arcy Carden, Jameela Jamil, and Manny Jacinto and William Jackson Harper. […] These are people I get to play with–I get paid to do this! That’s insane. That I will miss on a daily basis."

Unfortunately, Marc Evan Jackson was too tight-lipped about the upcoming season. “I don’t want to blow your minds… things happen in season four,” he teases. “It’s exciting, daring, moves are made and… yeah!”

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when The Good Place premieres on NBC this fall!
