Swamp Thing episode 8 preview: When a villain meets a hero
Swamp Thing will save an unlikely character this week, and we’re ready for the drama and foreshadowing.
Villains can have heroes too, right? But, can villains have heroes who are also hunting to find a miracle cure for a virus they started? Apparently, we’ll find out during this week’s Swamp Thing episode because Swampy is going to save Avery.
Emotionally preparing ourselves to watch another episode of Swamp Thing is stressful enough, especially as last week gave us a bittersweet love story. We’ll never be ready for this series to end. Is it really a Swamp Thing article if we don’t remind you at least once that we’re still devasted over the cancellation? Probably not. But the DC Universe series’ Saturn Awards nomination makes the premature cancellation more tragic than the source material itself.
Our melodrama aside, this week will give us a standoff with an unexpected twist: Swamp Thing nurtures the villain of Marais back to health. Can you just smell that conflict? Okay, maybe conflict doesn’t have a scent, but this week will give us some heated scenes between Avery and Swamp nonetheless.
You remember last week when Maria and Lucilia teamed up to take down the horrible man in their lives? Unfortunately, Avery didn’t stay down. And unfortunately, Swamp Thing is a kind-hearted hero, and he’s not only rescued the evil man, but he’s helping him heal.
Even though Alec/Swampy will aid Avery this week, something tells us that won’t stop Avery from capturing Swamp Thing — or from calling his various blackmailed accomplices to capture him. In fact, this rescue mission could easy transpire into the noteworthy comic scene where Avery and Woodrue capture Swamp Thing. We all know that story … and not everything works out in Avery or Woodrue’s favor at the end of it (just for different reasons).
While this week’s episode could transition into some more comic-accurate scenes, we’re just excited to see some tense moments between Avery and Alec, especially now that we’re pretty sure Alec knows Avery arranged his murder. Oh, the conversations Avery and Alec will have. The villain of Marais might not be able to physically back up any threats this week, seeing as he almost died last week, but we know the dialogue is going to be especially strong in “Long Walk Home.”
