Hustlers: Everything you need to know about the upcoming movie

The first teaser trailer dropped for Hustlers, the star-studded, female-led crime drama. In anticipation of the movie, we’ve rounded up what we know so far.

Almost a year after it was announced that Jennifer Lopez was attached to a film about a group of exotic dancers, we finally got the first batch of teaser trailers for Hustlers, and needless to say, it does not disappoint.

Though you’ll have to wait until Sept.13 to see it on the big screen, you can still get excited. Here’s everything we know so far.

It has a killer cast

If there’s one thing you need to know about Hustlers, it’s how talented the cast is. Jennifer Lopez plays the lead role, Ramona, along with Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart and Constance Wu (of Fresh off the Boat and Crazy Rich Asians fame). But it doesn’t stop there, Rapper and pop culture phenomenon Cardi B is also attached to the project, as well as Keke Palmer, Usher, and everyone’s favorite flute-playing songstress, Lizzo.

It’s based on a true story

Believe it or not, the premise behind Hustlers is based on a true story. The story first gained widespread notoriety with the publication of “The Hustlers at Scores”, an article by Jessica Pressler which told the robin hood-esque story of a group of former exotic dancers who drugged and robbed their wall street clients. The film has been in production for a while, but movement picked up when it was officially announced at the European Film Market that filming would begin.

The first trailer drops July 17

We don’t know how true the film will be to the story presented in the article, given that multiple names have been changed, and there’s been some controversy with the real-life women that the film is based on. However, we may get some clues about the movie’s plot when the first full trailer drops July 17.
