The 100 season 6 episode 9: 4 clues from the teaser

A glimpse into this week’s episode of The 100 shows Octavia grappling with her demons and Bellamy vowing to save Clarke from Josephine’s clutches.

The tensions in Sanctum have finally reached a breaking point on The 100, and there’s only one thing that can happen from here: war. To their credit, the members of Skaikru did give peace their all — it was just never their forte. And besides, what would The 100 be without a compelling “my people vs. your people” storyline?

Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll be stepping away from that plotline this week to focus on what’s going on outside of Sanctum’s borders. The teaser promo shows Octavia at war with herself, potentially giving fans some insight into what happened to her inside the anomaly.

There are also a few other things to note about what is and isn’t in the trailer going into this episode.

Things are going to “get weird”

The teaser opens with Xavier — who we now know is actually Gabriel — saying, “Things are about to get weird.” And all we can really say to that is: Haven’t they already been weird?

Between body-snatching, the glory and grace of the Primes, and the anomaly, it’s pretty safe to answer that question with a resounding “yes.” So, if the season 6 storyline is going to get even more bizarre, we have to wonder how.

Perhaps he’s anticipating the awkward team up that’s bound to happen with Bellamy, Clarke/Josie, and Octavia?

Clarke might actually surface

As of right now, Josephine is still in full control of Clarke’s body, even if Bellamy’s dragging her across the New World to change that. And while viewers have gotten a glimpse of Clarke from the deepest corners of her brain, she hasn’t managed to regain control of her physical being beyond tapping a few Morse code messages to Bellamy.

But in the teaser for this week’s episode, Bellamy tells Clarke, “I won’t let you die.” We know he isn’t speaking to Josephine like that, so it stands to reason he’s having an actual conversation with his friend. Either that, or he’s shouting into the void and hoping she’ll hear him. That would be a sweet parallel to her calling him on the radio every day for years.

Octavia facing her demons

Mid-teaser we get a shot of Octavia surrounded by what appear to be a bunch of butterflies, a callback to the first season, when the younger Blake sibling was entranced by the beauty of the world — a far cry from who she’s become over the past few seasons.

The promo also ends with Octavia facing off with Blodreina, something that was teased in the sixth season trailer. With her redemption arc in full swing, we can assume it’s her turn to live out this year’s tagline and “face her demons.” With the amount of baggage Octavia’s piled up, we might need a longer runtime for that.

No footage from Sanctum

Sometimes, what isn’t in the trailer is just as telling as what is. And this week’s teaser is lacking details about what’s happening behind Sanctum’s barriers. Last we saw, Murphy and Jordan were in pretty dire circumstances, Skaikru was put on lockdown, and the Primes were preparing for war.

Leaving us on that kind of cliffhanger then shifting focus is the type of thing The 100 is best at, so we might be waiting another long week to see how things play out inside of the compound. Talk about building the suspense.
