Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD preview: Let’s bring in some personal demons

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD took steps towards reuniting FitzSimmons in space. But things are never that easy for this star-crossed couple.

I’ve already aired my grievances with Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and their constant treatment of FitzSimmons. So let’s not rehash what we already know and keep moving forward.

Last week’s episode ended with Daisy and her team returning back to Earth without Simmons or Fitz in their midst. No, those two are stuck with the Chronicoms and need to learn how to invent time travel before they get killed by angry aliens.

Certainly not an ideal situation for anyone.

Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Inescapable,” courtesy of ABC:

"They’ve fought through space, time and alternate realities to find each other, and now, closer than ever, only their own demons can stop FitzSimmons’ reunion."

The preview for this week’s episode looks like it’s going to be about as trippy as Tandy and Tyrone’s last trip into the Darkforce Dimension. That is–plenty of old demons are about to crop back up.

And what’s a better way to continue torturing FitzSimmons than to bring back Fitz’s Framework counterpart, the head of Hydra? Surely that won’t open up a huge can of worms!

Still, everything that the Framework brought to Agents of SHIELD worked so incredibly well and drove the stakes home for our characters. Hydra Fitz was terrifying in all of the right ways. Bringing that iteration back into the picture in any way will cause both Simmons and Fitz to doubt everything — including themselves.

But what exactly is bringing this hallucination about? Are the Chronicoms trying to stress out FitzSimmons enough that they’ll suddenly understand time travel?

Just wait and see what Agents of SHIELD has up its sleeve for FitzSimmons.
