Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD preview: Let’s explore an alien planet!

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD takes us onto the deep space planet of Kitson this week, as Daisy and Simmons try to find Fitz and Enoch

Some of the best episodes of Agents of SHIELD are when they completely let go and take us to fantastical worlds.

So with the upcoming episode looking to take us to the surface of planet Kitson, I have some high hopes. With 95% of last week’s episode following the shenanigans of Fauxson (faux-Coulson, aka Sarge) on Earth, taking us off-world sounds like a nice break.

Here is the official synopsis for this week’s episode, “Fear and Loathing on the Planet of Kitson,” courtesy of ABC:

"CloseIt’s a wild night out on the planet of Kitson for the agents. While Fitz and Enoch try their luck at the casino, nearby, Daisy and Simmons find themselves in a much … groovier situation."

I’ve got to say, the “…” in the synopsis cracks me up. It could be some fun hijinks on an alien planet. Or they could go the complete opposite way–maybe they throw Daisy and Simmons into some sort of trafficking ring, reminiscent of what we’ve seen this season in Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger.

Regardless of where they go, we would very much like to see FitzSimmons reunited this episode. Agents of SHIELD has put literal worlds between them before. Every season tears them apart. Enough is enough. Let them get back together and find Deke and come back to Earth.

Will we get much of a look at what’s going on with Earth? Perhaps not. And that’s okay. It’s still a little odd to see Clark Gregg playing a not-Coulson character that has Coulson’s DNA.

Plus, how many more times do we need to see May conflicted by this Fauxson? Not as many as the writers and directors might think.

Agents of SHIELD has kept its pacing pretty consistent so far this season. Granted, we’re only two episodes in, but if they can keep things flowing and moving, we’re in for a sixth-season treat. And with season seven already a guarantee, we may as well prepare ourselves for a terrible cliffhanger to end this season.
