Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger review: Darkness closes in from everywhere

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger takes all of our characters on crazy journeys, from Tandy to Tyrone, from Andre to Adina, and even Mayhem.

It’s another week of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger. Will Tyrone successfully rescue Tandy? Will Tyrone’s mom be even shadier this week?

Let’s dive right in!

Brigid and Tyrone are at the grow house looking at the aftermath Tandy left. Tyrone can’t get a hold of her. Because she’s stuck in a motel with Andre talking about his powers, her lack of hope, and Tandy’s “miserable” life.

Tyrone heads to the community center looking for Tandy, encounters Andre, feels a bit of her powers, and almost makes it out without Andre influencing his thoughts. Because it’s very easy for him to succumb to the idea that Tandy would just leave without telling him.

I’m thoroughly enjoying how they’re using Andre’s powers and showing them through the vinyl records. It’s also fun to watch him scheme his way through everything, using Tyrone’s regrets and despair to find Evita’s auntie Chantelle.

Mayhem shows up in the vinyl store to stop the “Tandy does not care about you” record from playing and switches on something much more Tandy-friendly. And one that gives him the idea to check out the path of the ambulances.

Meanwhile, Adina is working through her dilemma: Connors. One o the most terrifying scenes involves Adina starting to make crab cakes and delicately talking to Connors about everything. She breaks down at the end of the episode, just wanting to properly bury Billy. At least Connors tells her where he buried the body.

Mayhem also kicks some ass this episode, destroying all of Andre’s records—all while Tyrone shows up and Tandy’s daggers return. The only problem is that Tyrone collapses at the end of the episode, oozing out so much darkness.

Badass Moment of the Week

Auntie Chantelle showing up in the vinyl store was hilarious. “We’re all touched—I’m just self-away enough to act on it,” she tells a shocked Andre.

Tandy’s situation at the Viking Motel is so messed up. None of these girls want to leave. Is it mind control? Drugs? She attempts to escape and it goes poorly. She gets drugged and thrown into the sex trafficking ring—but her daggers show back up at the most opportune moment. It’s nice to see her spark some hope in someone else’s life there, too.

I also enjoyed the small glimpse at Mayhem in the vinyl store in the Darkforce Dimension. You can see her seething rage when Andre messes with Chantelle. It’s a bummer that they killed her off. I have lots of feelings on this.
