Natalie Portman attending the Avengers: Endgame premiere may preview a Jane Foster cameo

Jane Foster, is that you? Natalie Portman didn’t need to wield Mjolnir to captivate us at the Endgame L.A. premiere. Simply attending the event caught our attention just fine.

We’ve been trying to prepare for all the surprises in Avengers: Endgame. Admittedly, preparing for the unexpected is impossible but that won’t stop us because we know our favorite MCU heroes are against even bigger odds. With all our fan-led speculations swirling, we never thought we’d be surprised by the Endgame Los Angeles premiere. But then Natalie Portman, or Thor’s Jane Foster as we know her, showed up.

Twitter had varying degrees of reactions to Portman’s presence at the premiere. Beyond ascending to a new level of fandom, it gave a lot of fans (including us) hope that Portman might reprise her role as Jane in Avengers: Endgame.

Although Jane is newly a Valkyrie in Marvel Comics, Jane also had a long and successful run as Thor. Naturally, we feel like Portman’s presence can mean good things for Jane, her fans, and for Asgard… or at least New Asgard.

Perhaps Portman was just there supporting her fellow MCU stars. After all, Endgame marks the end of a cinematic era and Portman and Jane Foster alike were apart of that era. AV News reports that her attendance doesn’t necessarily bolster any theories that Jane might have a cameo in Endgame, but it also doesn’t squander any of our theories either.

While Portman’s arrival at the event might worry some because all the original heroes are at risk in the upcoming film, Jane’s hypothetical filmverse run as Thor doesn’t mean Thor Odinson needs to die for Jane Foster to take on the role, moniker, and duties of the God of Thunder. After all, Thor didn’t die in the comics when Jane took on the mantle. So, any vague theories about Portman reprising her role as Jane give us a sliver of hope amid our pre-Endgame dread.

We realize that Avengers: Endgame is going to be a tearful ride and it’s going to bring a lot of pain upon the fandom. However, Natalie Portman’s premiere appearance might mean she has a featurette in the upcoming film, which would grow into a larger or recurring role as Jane Foster in the overwhelmingly ambiguous future of the MCU.

After all, we’re not ready to say goodbye to Jane or any Thor for that matter.
