The Avengers: Endgame LEGO sets foretell a possible attack from Thanos

LEGO unveiled its newest sets for Avengers: Endgame. Based on the five new sets, it looks like a battle could be going down at a familiar location.

Warning! These toys could contain potential, mild spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.

With under a month to go before Avengers: Endgame comes out, it’s really starting to feel like the endgame now — especially with new toy releases for the movie being unveiled. LEGO’s always been among the most anticipated toy releases not only for the fun, creative takes on movie’s characters and scenes, but also because of the possible spoilers they hide within them

Take, for instance, the sets from Avengers: Infinity War. Some of the sets included “Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown,” “Thor’s Weapon Quest,” and “Outrider Dropship Attack.” On the surface, these are innocent playsets, but the titles alone give away what we can look forward to seeing in the movie.

That leads us to the Avengers: Endgame collection, which seems to point to an attack at the Avengers’ HQ by Thanos. Let’s take a look at each of them to see how the battle may go down.

There are two big reveals from this set. First, Captain America is sporting the white suit we’ve seen in the trailers. Nothing confirms quite what these suits are for, but some guess that (aside from building team morale with matching uniforms) it may help with time/Quantum Realm travel.

The second reveal is that the Outriders are back. Those were the terrifying aliens that the Avengers battled in Wakanda during Infinity War. It just may be that Thanos is coming back with a vengeance and an army. Also, Captain America’s got a bike again! It seems like his story is coming full circle.

Maybe Rhodey was a little unprepared in the Battle of Wakanda with just his blasters, but now, he’s got his own Hulkbuster-like armor called the War Machine Buster. At his side is Ant-Man, whom he’ll likely be sharing a scene with in the movie when this battle goes down. The last time Rhodey saw Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War, they were on two different sides. It’s good to see them working together.

While we’re talking about a possible attack at the Avengers’ HQ, the Iron Man LEGO set may be showing us that Tony Stark’s new hall of armor has been moved to the Avengers’ compound. (You know, considering his house in California was completely leveled. Unless he’s rebuilt his home out west, it looks like he’s definitely moved operations to New York.)

The big, blue suit (Igor) is included in this set, and our little fire extinguisher friend has returned, too. With an attack on such a large scale, it looks like Iron Man will need all the iron help he can get.

The next group up to bat at this possible HQ attack includes Rocket, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. Except this time, we have “new” enemies: the Chitauri. Yes, we remember the Chitauri from such memorable moments as the Battle of New York in Avengers, or when they were beaten up by Nebula while guarding her in Infinity War.

Judging by this set, Thanos will have double the backup, with the Chitauri and the Outriders ready to take the Avengers down. Rocket has never battled these creatures (as far as we know), so let’s hope he’s prepared.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers Compound Battle

This brings us to the final set, appropriately titled Avengers Compound Battle. You’ll notice here that Thanos is included in this set, meaning he’s coming back to handle his business. He’s battled Iron Man, Nebula and the Hulk before (who are all included in this set), but he’s never come up against Captain Marvel. (He better watch out.)

Based on the sets alone, it’s hard to say for sure if this battle takes place in the middle of the movie, or if it’s the climactic battle at the end. Depending on the pacing of the movie, this could be the final battle given one clue: the color of Black Widow’s hair. In Infinity War and in the mid-credits scene for Captain Marvel, her hair is still blonde. But in some instances (including the previous LEGO set), her hair is longer and red — some thinking that her hair growing indicates a significant passage of time.

If anything, we are getting a glimpse at an intense battle that doesn’t involve the rest of the snapped away Avengers. So, this fight either marks the middle of the movie, while the Avengers will have to spend the latter half finding a way to bring back their friends, or this is the end battle that brings Thanos to his knees, somehow forcing him to reverse the snap.

The LEGO sets are all available starting today. You can look out for Avengers: Endgame in theaters April 26.
