Game of Marvels: And the final winner is…

It all came down to one Marvel character and one Game of Thrones character in Game of Marvels, Culturess’ March Madness bracket. Who won?

Last week, we introduced the Game of Marvels bracket, a way to play out which ladies of Game of Thrones and the Marvel Cinematic Universe would win. Hard choices were asked from the start of our bracket, but fans voted every day to propel their favorites deeper and deeper into the tournament.

On the Game of Thrones side, Olenna Tyrell proved to be something of a Cinderella, knocking out Margaery Tyrell and Cersei Lannister before being defeated by Brienne of Tarth. Brienne herself came close to being the final Game of Thrones woman left standing. However, it was Arya Stark, who defeated big names like Daenerys Targaryen, that emerged as the champion of Game of Thrones.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe bracket, however, had some more surprises. Valkyrie demolished Hela and Peggy Carter, but when she went up against Captain Marvel, voting went into overtime to confirm a win.

We put together an instant poll, seen below:

Ultimately, Captain Marvel won. The only person left for her to face was Black Widow, and after the scare with Valkyrie, it seems the Carol Corps came out in force.

Our final match was set: Arya Stark, the Girl with No Name, versus Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel and Earth’s Mightiest Hero. Game of Thrones versus the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One … last … poll.

But though the Carol Corps (and a particularly big movie) had kept Captain Marvel going past the other heroines of the MCU, her might was not enough for Arya Stark. The results were not even particularly close:

Yes, our winner is Arya Stark. Check out the filled out fan-voted bracket below, with all the results. (If you would like a blank one to fill out yourself, you can find one here.)
