Edgar Evernever has arrived and Riverdale will never be the same

Riverdale has been teasing the arrival of The Farm’s Edgar Evernever for months and finally the day has come. The leader of The Farm is here.

Chad Michael Murray has arrived. The actor who portrays The Farm’s elusive leader, Edgar Evernever, finally made his debut on Riverdale, and he did it in a way that was unexpected, but impactful.

What better way to bring Edgar into the Riverdale fold than to have him arrive at the end of the show’s musical episode? After singing an inspiring and rousing version of “Seventeen,” there is complete silence in the auditorium, until one lone member of the audience begins clapping. As he stands up to lead everyone in a round of applause, Evelyn whispers on stage that she knew her father would like the performance.

And just like that, Edgar Evernever is here and Riverdale will never be the same. Perhaps it is because of how long we have been waiting to meet the leader of The Farm, but I never would have imagined our first glimpse of the man would be in the audience of a high school musical. But, having him be the only one clapping as “Seventeen” ends the show made his arrival rather impressive.

However, if you were listening, that round of applause was a lot less applause like and much more creepy. There was a very monotone effect to the clapping that Edgar was doing. And the fact that he was wearing all white, as were other members of The Farm, who all followed him in this slow clap, made the moment as tense and foreboding as if we had met the character in some other, less pleasant manner.

We don’t really know anything about Edgar Evernever yet. Beyond his being the leader of The Farm and Evelyn’s father, we don’t know what makes him tick or why he decided to set up shop in the town of Riverdale.

At this point, we have more questions than answers, but in this case, I am okay with that. I can’t wait to see what happens now that Edgar is finally here. If he actually adds depth to the story then I am all for him sticking around and causing havoc in town. Maybe the town needs a little shaking up.

I don’t think any of us would mind if we had a new parent in town stirring the pot, after all, Edgar has a child at Riverdale High as well. And these parents need some new blood infiltrating their ranks for a bit.

Of course, the fact that Edgar is officially in the picture also means that we are about to get a whole lot more action from The Farm, and for once I am okay with this. This story line has been simmering in the background for a little too long now. It’s time to shake things up and bring this whole story to a head. With the leader finally coming out from behind the curtain, maybe we can finally see some action.
