The Dark Arts are taking over The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
By Megan DuBois
Get ready to yell “Expecto Patronum,” as the Dark Arts are taking over The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood.
A new nighttime projection show, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle, will bring Hogwarts Castle to life in a whole new way by bringing together the villains of the Harry Potter world including Death Eaters, giant spiders, Dementors and even Lord Voldemort himself.
Don’t be too scared though, as Albus Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Toward the end of the new show, the most powerful Defense Against the Dark Arts charm, the Patronus Charm, is cast and the joy of Hogwarts Castle is renewed.
The celebration of all things Dark Arts will be more intense and dramatic than previous Potter projections shows like The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle and The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle. Guests will be immersed in a surround-sound environment and high-tech projections. The new show will feature a new musical arrangement which is based on the original music and recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Guests who want to see Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle at Universal Studios Hollywood can do so from April 13 through April 28, then again May 25 until May 27. Universal Studios Hollywood is also hosting a special two-day ticketed premiere event April 11 and 12 where guests will get an exclusive sneak peek of the show. The dates for the new show at Universal Orlando Resort have not been announced, but it will start later this year.
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle was announced just as more details were revealed along with an opening date of Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The new high-speed rollercoaster attraction will be taking riders on a journey through the Forbidden Forest and along the way spotting some of the wizarding world’s most elusive and dangerous creatures. Guests can experience this thrilling new adventure starting on June 13, 2019.
It definitely looks like it’s a good time to celebrate all things Harry Potter. Whether you’re a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, there’s something for every house at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
