To celebrate Robert Downey Jr.’s fans and his inclusion on the Fandom 250, we’ve put together a list of a few of our favorite Iron Man moments.

While it’s easy to be a casual enjoyer of something, being a fan in the fandom sense of the word takes a lot more work. There are so many great fandoms and dedicated fans out there, and every year the Fandom 250 looks at some of the best fans in the world over all kinds of fandoms from sports to movies to celebrities.

Robert Downey Jr. started the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe off right when he took on the role of Iron Man, and his portrayal of the character ever since has helped keep the franchise so strong. In some ways, Robert Downey Jr. and Tony Stark have many similarities. They both are kind of eccentric rich dudes who like to play up their narcissism but are also very kind, hilarious, witty, and charismatic people. He also has many more exciting projects coming up since as returning to the Sherlock Holmes franchise with Jude Law. Downey has also shown himself to be a generous friend when he bought Chris Evans a car, and he often posts hilarious memes about Iron Man on social media, too.

The Notorious RDJ (and especially Iron Man) has a large fan base, and it’s easy to see why. So, it’s no wonder that Robert Downey Jr. came in at #133 on the Fandom 250 and #13 in celebrities.

To celebrate him, we’ve decided to put together a short list of some of our favorite Iron Man moments. It’s hard to pick favorites because there are so many amazing moments over the past 10 years, but these are just a few of the highlights.

“I am Iron Man.”

This moment truly was iconic. At the end of the first Iron Man movie, This moment is the perfect way for Tony Stark to announce to the world that he is a superhero. It’s a little dramatic and has a lot of style, but it’s an Iron Man moment that all Marvel fans will always remember as it really kicked off the MCU as a whole.

When Tony saved New York from the nuke

While many people think that Tony Stark is just a genius playboy, billionaire, philanthropist, he’s also an extremely selfless hero. He was willing to sacrifice his life at the end of the first Avengers movie to save New York, and we love that this moment highlighted that he has a true hero’s heart.

So many of the moments where he mentors Peter Parker

The mentorship relationship between Tony Stark and Peter Parker in the MCU is definitely adorable. From the time in Captain America: Civil War where Tony Stark first met Peter and asked for his help to Infinity War where he made Peter the Iron Spider suit, Tony clearly cares deeply about Parker. It’s also clear he sees similarities between Peter and himself when he was a young nerd at MIT. It’s been great to see the softer side of Tony Stark, and it’s clear that he is a bigger softie than he would ever admit to anyone, even himself.

Fighting Thanos in Infinity War

Seeing Tony’s new suits in action in Infinity War was so much fun. While every version of the Iron Man suit has gotten progressively better over the years, this suit was really a league above the rest. It had all kinds of weapons and really showed off how smart Tony is. Beyond that though, this scene showed how determined Tony was to win.

All of his witty banter

Tony Stark is so great at one-liners. Some of the most humorous moments across all MCU moments are some of his lines such as that Squidward jab in Infinity War. The MCU wouldn’t be the same without Iron Man’s snark and wit, and we love all of the moments where he makes us chuckle.
