Star Wars Resistance preview: Kaz finds an opportunity he can’t refuse

In this preview of “The Children from Tehar,” Kaz and Neeku eavesdrop on a nearby conversation and come to believe a sizable reward could be the answer to their money problems.

Sounds like Kaz is up to no good again. Actually, that’s not completely true. Kaz is a good person, so he generally does things for a good reason and with the best intentions. It’s just that he doesn’t have the best luck and coordination, so he ends up getting himself into trouble several times over.

Sort of like what will undoubtedly happen in this next episode. He and Neeku find out there’s a 20,000-credit bounty on two runaway kids. For someone in desperate need of money, finding these kids seems like the best course of action.

With that kind of money, Kaz would be able to buy new parts for the Fireball. He would also be able to pay back Grevel for the money he owes him after that holo-dart game in the series premiere. Granted, Grevel cheated, but he won’t hesitate to chase after Kaz for his money.

Watch Kaz and Neeku overhear a neighboring conversation in this recent clip:

It also appears Kaz needs the money for something else. He tells Neeku he could “get Tam’s part fixed.” We’re guessing it’s a ship part that got damaged somehow. Maybe this is Kaz’s way of repaying Tam? After all, the Fireball was promised to Tam and she was angry about Kaz using it for his own race. A race he lost because he sent the Fireball crashing into the water, damaging any work she had done on the ship prior to his arrival on the Colossus. It would be a friendly gesture on his part.

He also notices a symbol on the bracelet the oldest child is wearing. It doesn’t seem familiar to Kaz or Neeku. Unfortunately, we don’t recognize it, either. It could be part of a script native to the people of Tehar, sort of like how Mandalorians have their own alphabet. They make a point to focus on it, though, so we imagine it’s going to play some sort of role in the episode.

We also love how this preview clip ends with Kaz saying, “What could go wrong?” Everything could go wrong, especially with Kaz at the helm. We adore him and think he’s the sweetest guy, but Kaz’s plans crumble in a way that affects him and the people around him. And with Neeku at his side, we could see him dragging the poor Nikto down with him.

There’s no doubt Kaz and Neeku find the kids, but we are curious about what would happen next. Kaz doesn’t have any weapons to fight back against the First Order, as we saw in “The High Tower.” He also doesn’t have the resources to get these kids to safety. Like always, he bites off more than he can chew.

Will he get the reward? Will he get Tam’s part fixed? We’ll have to wait and see what Kaz has in store for us next.
