Star Wars Episode IX: John Boyega may have confirmed a new filming location

John Boyega is quickly becoming one of the best sources for information on Star Wars Episode IX, with his latest reveal seemingly confirming some rumors.

Warning: If you want to go into Star Wars Episode IX knowing the bare minimum of details, then you may not want to know where it’s going to film.

Though The Mandalorian might be the new hotness in terms of Star Wars filming rumors and photos, that doesn’t mean that Star Wars Episode IX has gone on break. Since it’s the conclusion of this trilogy, we have to expect that it’s going to be a bit more secure and thus harder to discern what’s going on.

Unless, of course, John Boyega arrives somewhere and talks about it on social media. He didn’t go so far as to share photos of sets or anything like that, but Making Star Wars and r/StarWarsLeaks honed in on two specific additions to his Instagram story (and they both have those posts, which are now gone from Boyega’s story).

A source for MSW identified the mosque he posted a photo of as being in Jordan. If you’ve kept up with all the latest in rumors, Jordan has frequently come up as somewhere that will host Episode IX, with photos already alleging that there’s a set there. Meanwhile, the subreddit speculated that the video could be a “cast and crew filming party,” based on Boyega’s caption saying that it’s “[before] we go to war.”

Fans recall that he’s used that phrasing before quite often when it comes to Star Wars. This isn’t the first time that he’s given tiny sneak peeks when it comes to Episode IX, either, after showing some of the training he’s gone through to play Finn for a third time. Additionally, he did confirm recently that he was traveling somewhere else, though he didn’t say where:

The real question is this: If Boyega’s filming in Jordan, then is Finn going to actually spend part of the movie with Rey? The current theories swirling around the Jordan location indicate that it’s supposedly going to be significant to her story by possibly being a different part of Jakku, though that is unconfirmed as of yet. The Last Jedi sees them mostly apart, but it’s hard to deny that Daisy Ridley and Boyega work well together after their work in The Force Awakens.

We here at Culturess will be sure to keep a close eye on this as production continues.
