Star Wars Resistance preview: Kaz finds himself in a dangerous sky race

When Poe Dameron assigns X-wing pilot Kazuda Xiono to a remote fueling station on the Outer Rim water planet of Castilon to spy on the First Order, Kaz finds himself in a dangerous sky race.

It’s six months before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The war between the First Order and the Resistance hasn’t happened yet. Most people in the galaxy are living their day-to-day lives, unaware of the evil lurking in the shadows. Others, like Kaz, are trying to do something about it before anything disastrous happens.

The thing is, Kaz gets assigned to a place unlike anything he’s ever experienced before. He finds a friendly face in Neeku Vozo and a few not-so-friendly faces in others, but he unintentionally gets himself wrapped up in a sky race. Instead of keeping a low profile and trying to blend in, he has to prove himself in front of the entire platform. Not the best way to start the first day on the job.

Before you dive into the series premiere on Oct. 7, let’s take a look back at the content Lucasfilm and Disney have released since the show’s announcement. StarWars.com gave fans a first look at the series back in August and followed that up with featurettes highlighting Team Fireball and Team Aces.

On top of that, an extended sneak peek was released, giving fans a brief overview of what to expect in this first season. IGN also unveiled a 1-minute clip introducing the fiery and no non-sense Tam Ryvora (voiced by Suzie McGrath).

Lastly, in this short clip released by voice actor Bobby Moynihan, we finally get to see what his character, Orka, looks like. For those of you wondering why he looks familiar, Orka is a Chadra-Fan, a rodent-like sentient species who first made an appearance in A New Hope.

The long-legged bird-like creature is Jim Rash’s character, Flix. Both are pretty amused at how Neeku Vozo (voiced by Josh Brener) wants to get parts for the Fireball, the decrepit racing ship from Jarek Yeager’s garage that has a tendency to burst into flames. That’s the ship Kaz plans to fly in the premiere. We’ll have to wait and see whether he makes it to the finish line.
