Daredevil season 3: 3 things to know from the full trailer

Now that the Daredevil season 3 trailer is here, it’s time to take a closer look at some key moments and what they could mean for Matt Murdock.

October is traditionally a month for horror, thanks to Halloween. But aside from The Haunting of Hill House and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Netflix also has another top-tier property coming back this month: Daredevil.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the newest trailer borrows from horror elements in its sound effects and even the black-text-on-red-background interstitials between shots from the actual season. But at its core, this is a show about one man and his struggle against things much more powerful than he — including another man by the name of Wilson Fisk.

“I’m Daredevil”

Well, we know why Matt’s wearing the black suit again.

And if you don’t think Kingpin had anything to do with that in particular, then may we point you to his horrifying smile as he sees the news reports say that Daredevil attacked someone or something? The idea of a copycat isn’t a new one, but the fact that this one has the suit brings it up to a whole new level.

Let the redemption tour begin

Speaking of Fisk, pay attention to all the colors he’s wearing — there’s a lot of white here. We’ve noticed this in previous teasers, and as I said then, it’s always been a Fisk color rather than a Matt color.

But walking into an event in an all-white tuxedo? That’s a step up, and he stands out in the shot not just because of his size, but because he’s one of the few people in light colors in the dark room and surrounded by other people. This is a Fisk who is doing his best to sell himself as someone who was wronged, but still wants to do right by the city — as he says later in a speech to the media.

“You sure about that?”

It’s unclear, but it looks like Fisk is wearing his white tux in the exchange with Matt, while Matt himself is in a pretty beat-up state. It’s the strongest visual contrast between the two yet, and it shows that while Fisk may be riding high, Matt is … not doing the same. And at a low point, a superhero might consider something that he normally doesn’t do.

But it’s the way that Matt delivers the line that should send the most chills down your spine. That doesn’t sound like someone who’s trying to bluff. That sounds like someone who is actively considering killing Fisk, if he hasn’t decided to go for it already.
